A pro-inflammatory diet increases the likelihood of obesity and overweight in adolescent boys: a case-control study

Following a pro-inflammary diet may spur the addition of excess weight and onset of obesity in adolescent boys.

Can imbibing the habit of eating pro-inflammatory foods lead to weight gain and obesity in adolescent boys? Researchers attempted to answer this question using data on the dietary choices and body mass index (BMI) of 856 adolescent boys.

Researchers observed that fans of pro-inflammatory diets had high propensity to pile up excess pounds and become obese. This study supports the notion that likeness for pro-inflammatory foods may promote weight gain and obesity in adolescent males.
