Egg consumption and mortality from colon and rectal cancers: an ecological study.

Generous consumers of eggs may have a high tendency of dying from colorectal cancer.

This study examined egg consumption in relation to the likelihood of dying from colorectal cancer. Researchers from the United States analyzed data on the egg intake levels and colorectal cancer mortality records of 34 countries.

The team of investigators found out that the chances of dying from colorectal cancer were higher in frequent consumers of eggs than in non-consumers of this type of food. "This study suggested that egg consumption was associated with an increased risk of colon and rectal cancers at the population level," the authors concluded.
