Effect of Dietary Fiber Intake on Breast Cancer Risk According to Estrogen and Progesterone Receptor Status

Following a high fiber diet rich in fruits and vegetables may confer women with significant protection against breast cancer.

This study investigated the impact of high fiber diet on breast cancer risk. Researchers assessed the dietary habits of 437 Chinese women with breast cancer and another 437 females without the disease. 

Researchers discovered that higher intake of fiber-containing foods, especially fruits and vegetables, correlated with lower risk of breast cancer. Based on data from this study, a protective association exists between frequent consumption of fiber-rich foods and breast cancer occurence.
