Proinflammatory Dietary Intake is Associated with Increased Risk of Colorectal Cancer: Results of a Case-Control Study in Argentina Using a Multilevel Modeling Approach
Consistent consumption of pro-inflammatory foods may facilitate the development of colorectal cancer
This study compared the rate of occurrence of colorectal cancer in accordance with the frequency of consumption of pro-inflammatory foods. Researchers matched dietary choices with colorectal cancer diagnosis status in a study group comprising of 446 men and women from Argentina.
Researchers observed that preference for pro-inflammatory foods moved an individual's risk of acquiring colorectal cancer in the upward direction. The findings of this study support the notion that a pro-inflammatory diet may play a significant role in colorectal cancer development.
