Meta-analysis of the relationship between Dietary Inflammatory Index and esophageal cancer risk
Consumers of pro-inflammatory diets may have a high propensity to come down with esophageal cancer.
The purpose of this meta-analysis was to review the contribution of a pro-inflammatory diet to the development of esophageal cancer. Researchers analyzed the dietary and medical records of over 5,000 men and women who participated in 8 studies.
Researchers discovered that elevated intake of pro-inflammatory foods was tied to greater risk of esophageal cancer. This meta-analysis corroborated the results of previous studies that found an unfavorable association between devout consumption of pro-inflammatory foods and a spike in the risk of esophageal cancer.
