Breakfast Cereals and Risk of Type 2 Diabetes in the Physicians' Health Study I
Eating more whole grains for breakfast may lead to a reduction in type 2 diabetes risk.
This study evaluated the risk of type 2 diabetes present in individuals who consumed cereals for breakfast. Researchers recruited 21,152 US men for this study and followed their diets and health for a period of 19.1 years.
Researchers noticed that participants who ate breakfast cereals filled, particularly, with whole grains improved their chances of avoiding type2 diabetes. The results of this study suggest that including more whole grains in our breakfast cereals may help us beat type 2 diabetes.
