Meat consumption and all-cause mortality in 5763 patients with inflammatory bowel disease: A retrospective cohort study
High dietary ingestion of processed meats may increase mortality rates from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
This study focused on the correlation between meat consumption and the risk of dying from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Researchers monitored the dietary and mortality records of 5,763 patients with inflammatory bowel disease for an average of 11.7 years.
Researchers noticed that processed meat eaters had high likelihood of dying from inflammatory bowel disease. The results of this study show that avid consumers of processed meats are liable to die from inflammatory bowel disease.
