Meta-analysis of sugar-sweetened beverage intake and the risk of cognitive disorders

Frequent intake of sugar-sweetened beverages may edge an individual on the path to developing cognitive disorders.

This study set out to clarify the correlation between habitual ingestion of sugar-sweetened beverages and the occurrence of cognitive disorders. Researchers performed a meta-analysis on data extracted from nearly 250,000 persons who participated in 13 studies. 

Researchers noted a significant rise in the rate of diagnosis of cognitive disorders among lovers of sugary beverages. This meta-analysis arrived at the conclusion that fondness for sugar-sweetened beverages may precipitate the onset of cognitive disorder.
