Ultra-processed Food and Obesity: What Is the Evidence?
Favoring the consumption of ultra-processed foods may lead to weight gain and obesity.
This study set out to examine evidence supporting the obesity-promoting effects of ultra-processed foods. Researchers gathered data compiled from relevant studies.
Researchers observed that habitual consumers of ultra-processed foods had increased likelihood of piling up excess weight and becoming obese. This study provided additional evidence that frequent ingestion of ultra-processed foods may be one of the factors responsible for the rising incidence of obesity globally.
