Bone mineral density is associated with composite dietary antioxidant index among US adults: results from NHANES

Regular intake of antioxidant-rich foods may result in stronger bones and diminished risk of osteoporosis in men and women.

This study examined the effect of high antioxidant diet on bone mineral density and osteoporosis risk. Researchers took a detailed look at the dietary habits and measured the bone mineral density of more than 10,000 men and women. 

Data analysis showed a strong connection between consistent consumption of antioxidant-containing foods, increased bone mineral density, and reduced risk of osteoporosis. This study demonstrated that frequent ingestion of antioxidant-ladened foods may help to strengthen the bones of men and women.
