Higher ultra processed foods intake is associated with low muscle mass in young to middle-aged adults: a cross-sectional NHANES study
Generous consumption of ultra-processed foods may decrease muscle mass in young and middle-aged men and women.
This study determined the impact of frequent ingestion of ultra-processed foods on muscle mass in young and middle-aged men and women. Dietary and health records from 10,255 adults within the age bracket of 20-59 years were evaluated for this study.
Researchers found a strong link between increased intake of ultra-processed foods and reduced muscle mass in men and women. This study pointed out that devout consumers of ultra-processed foods are prone to having low muscle mass.
