Salt intake, stroke, and cardiovascular disease: meta-analysis of prospective studies
Indulgence in salty foods may bump up the risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease in an individual.
This meta-analysis determined whether high dietary ingestion of salty foods is a risk factor for the development of stroke and cardiovascular disease. Researchers compiled data from a pool of 13 studies that examined over 170,000 persons and 11,000 vascular events.
Researchers discovered that the likelihood of suffering from stroke and cardiovascular disease is stacked against lovers of salty foods. This meta-analysis documented a harmful association between increased salt intake and the occurrence of stroke and cardiovascular disease.
