Alcohol drinking, consumption patterns and breast cancer among Danish nurses: a cohort study
Habitual drinking of alcohol may favor the development of breast cancer.
This study analyzed the alcohol-breast cancer connection hypothesis. A total of 457 out of the 17,647 Danish nurses who volunteered for this study and provided lifestyle and health information over an 8-year period received a diagnosis of breast cancer.
Researchers noticed that the risk of developing breast cancer went up with increase in the frequency and quantity of alcohol consumed. This study supports the notion that alcohol intake may promote the transformation of normal cells in the breast into cancerous tumors.
