Effect of Fruit and Vegetable Consumption on Human Health: An Update of the Literature

Adequate intake of fruits and vegetables may help guard against the development of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular ailments.

This study assessed the health benefits of consuming a high fruit and vegetable diet. Researchers analyzed data from relevant studies published in the last 5 years.

Researchers identified a favorable association between indulgence in fruits and vegetables and a downward trend in the incidence in the chronic diseases, especially cardiovascular ailments. The results of this study showed that promoting the consumption of fruits and vegetables may help to reduce the burden of chronic disease globally.
