Depression associated with dietary intake of flavonoids: An analysis of data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2007-2010
Depression is less likely to occur among individuals with high intake of foods packed with flavonoids.
This study focused on the correlation between the consumption of flavonoid-rich foods and the odds of suffering from depression. Researchers followed the dietary habits and incidence of depression in a study group comprising of more than 8,000 men and women for over 3 years.
Researchers discovered that habitual ingestion of flavonoid-containing foods reduced an individual's likelihood of experiencing depression. This study concluded that "flavonoid intake was associated with lower odds of depression. "
