Cerebrovascular Complications Associated with Marijuana Use

Frequent use of marijuana may herald the onset of stroke, particularly in young individuals.

Do marijuana smokers have increased risk of having a stroke attack? Researchers from University of Illinois, Chicago, utilized data from eligible studies to determine the association between marijuana usage and the probability of suffering from stroke.

Researchers noticed that marijuana users had high propensity of developing both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. The data from this study indicate that regular intake of marijuana may be one of the many triggers of a stroke attack, especially in young individuals.
