Causal associations between dried fruit intake and cardiovascular disease: A Mendelian randomization study

Imbibing the habit of eating dried fruits regularly may help hinder the development of cardiovascular diseases, such as heart failure, ischemic, and small vessel stroke.

This study evaluated the influence diets high in dried fruits has on the burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Researchers collated data and evidence drawn from individuals where took part in the Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS).

Researchers observed that devout ingestion of dried fruits lessened a participant's risk of suffering from cardiovascular diseases, such as heart failure, ischemic, and small vessel stroke. "Our study provides evidence for the benefits of dried fruit intake on CVD. Therefore a reasonable consumption of dried fruit may provide primary prevention," the authors concluded.
