Alcohol Consumption and the Etiology of Colorectal Cancer: A Review of the Scientific Evidence From 1957 to 1991
Frequent consumption of alcohol may contribute positively to the development of colorectal cancer.
This research work studied the correlation between fondness for alcohol and the probability of developing cancer in the colon and rectum. Researchers conducted an in-depth meta-analysis on data drawn out from studies published between 1957 and 1991.
The team of investigators discovered that habitual consumption of alcoholic beverages, particularly beer, increased an individual's vulnerability to colorectal cancer. This meta-analysis suggest that regular drinking of alcohol may prime the cells of the colon and rectum to become cancerous.
