Habitual physical activity reduces the risk of ischemic stroke: a case-control study in southern china.
Ischemic stroke is less likely to occur in individuals who are physically active and exercise regularly.
This study assessed whether regular exercise can help prevent the development of ischemic stroke. Researchers estimated the relative risk of ischemic stroke and monitored the physical activity of more than 800 men and women residing in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China.
Researchers observed that subjects who reported engaging in regular exercise had better chances of preventing ischemic stroke than their peers who rarely or did not participate in any physical activity. The results of this study suggest that adopting an active lifestyle and exercising regularly may have a protective effect against ischemic stroke.
