Alcohol consumption and the risk of cancer.
Stomach, lung, oral, pharyngeal, laryngeal, colorectal, oesophageal, breast, and ovarian cancers are more likely to occur in alcohol consumers than those who avoid drinking alcoholic products.
This study examined the role of alcohol in the development of cancer. Researchers analyzed data extracted from over 200 published studies on the subject.
Researchers found out that drinking of alcoholic products promoted the development and growth of cancerous cells in the stomach, colon, rectum, female breast, and ovaries. In addition, the usage of tobacco together with alcohol intake was found to enhance the carcinogenic effects of alcohol on the upper digestive tract and respiratory system. The findings of this study show that alcohol consumers are highly vulnerable to stomach, colorectal, breast, ovarian, oral, oesophageal, laryngeal, pharyngeal, and lung cancers.
