Increased Inflammatory Potential of Diet Is Associated with Increased Risk of Bladder Cancer in an Iranian Case-Control Study

Fondness for pro-inflammatory foods may steer an individual to the path that leads to the development of bladder cancer.

This study examined if regular eating of pro-inflammatory foods is tied to elevated risk of bladder cancer. Researchers evaluated the nutritional habits of 56 individuals diagnosed with bladder cancer and 109 Iranian men and women without this malignancy.

Researchers found out that the odds of receiving a diagnosis of bladder cancer were high among lovers of pro-inflammatory foods. "These data suggest a pro-inflammatory diet may be a risk factor for bladder cancer among Iranians," the study authors noted.
