Cigarette smoking and breast cancer risk: update of a prospective cohort study.
Women who are cigarette smokers may be highly vulnerable to breast cancer.
This study investigated the link between cigarette smoking and breast cancer development risk in women. Researchers collated and analyzed data on the smoking habits and breast cancer hazard ratios of 89,835 women recruited from the Canadian National Breast Screening Study.
Researchers found out that women who were cigarette smokers for a long time had greater risk of coming down with breast cancer than their counterparts who were never smokers. This study adds to the evidence fingering cigarette smoking as one of the factors that promote the development of breast cancer.
