Each portion of fruit or vegetable consumed halves the risk of oral cancer.
High intake of fruits and vegetables may help thwart the development of oral cancer.
This study evaluated the relationship between regular consumption of fruits and vegetables and the risk of developing oral (mouth) cancer. Researchers examined nutritional and clinical data obtained from 16 published studies.
Researchers observed that a 50% reduction in oral cancer risk was associated with each portion of fruits and vegetables consumed per day. The results of this study indicate that daily intake of generous portions of fruits and vegetables may improve an individual's chances of avoiding oral cancer.
