Relation of Cannabis Use to Elevated Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Risk Score

Cannabis intake may foster the development of cardiovascular disease.

This study evaluated cannabis use in relation to the development of cardiovascular disease. Researchers analyzed the cannabis usage and medical records of 7,159 men and women over a 7-year period.

Researchers discovered that cannabis users compared to non-users were prone to come down with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. This study contributes to the growing body of literature describing an unfavorable association between cannabis intake and cardiovascular disease development.
