Alcohol consumption and risk of colorectal cancer: the Findrink study.
Heavy drinking of alcohol may increase the odds of developing colorectal cancer in men.
This study assessed whether alcohol consumers were at risk of developing colorectal cancer. Researchers studied more than 2,500 Finnish men recruited from the Kuopio Ischaemic Heart Disease Risk Factor Study, following their alcohol drinking habits and health for up to 16.7 years.
The team of investigators found a far higher incidence of colorectal cancer among men who consumed 198.8 grams of alcohol weekly. This study provides evidence that high intake of alcohol may be a factor that contributes to the development of colorectal in men.
