Association between intake of red and processed meat and risk of heart failure: a meta-analysis.

Avid consumers of processed meats may be highly vulnerable to heart failure.

The aim of this meta-analysis was to examine the relationship between high dietary ingestion of red and processed meat and the likelihood of suffering from heart failure. A total of 6 scientific publications were considered for this meta-analysis.

Researchers noted that the risk of heart failure rose with increasing intake of processed meats in Europeans, but not in Americans. The findings of this study show that frequent consumption of processed meats may accelerate the onset of heart failure.
