Cannabis Use and Acute Coronary Syndrome
Cannabis use may elevate the risk of developing several cardiovascular diseases, including cardiomyopathy, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction (heart attack), and cardiac arrest.
This study examined whether cannabis use is an influential factor for the development of cardiovascular disease. Researchers conducted a meticulous meta-analysis on data obtained from 85 studies involving more than half a million participants.
After analyzing the data, the research team found out that cannabis usage increased the odds of suffering from both acute coronary syndrome, including chest pain, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction (Heart attack), and cardiac arrest, and chronic cardiovascular diseases, such as cardiomyopathy. This study provides further evidence that cannabis use may have adverse effects on cardiovascular health.
