Fruit and vegetable intake and cognitive impairment: a systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies.

Generous consumption of fruits and vegetables may help halt the onset and progression of cognitive decline.

This study evaluated the link between dietary intake of fruits and vegetables and the risk of suffering from cognitive impairment. Researchers analyzed the nutritional and health records of 17,537 men and women.

Researchers discovered that a significant drop in the risk of suffering from cognitive impairment was associated with regular intake of generous portions of fruits and vegetables. The results of this study show that adding more fruits and vegetables to our diets may help to improve cognitive function and fend off cognitive impairment.
