Consumption of Ultra-Processed Food and Blood Pressure in Korean Adults

Eating ultra-processed foods consistently may promote the development of high blood pressure (hypertension).

This study focused on the impact of ultra-processed foods on blood pressure. With the aid of validated food frequency questionnaires, researchers collated and studied data on the ultra-processed food consumption levels of more than 9,000 Korean men and women. The blood pressures of all the participants were also measured regularly throughout the duration of the study.

Researchers observed that indulgence in ultra-processed foods correlated with a sustained rise in blood pressure (hypertension). This study demonstrated that adding more ultra-processed foods to our diet may put us at risk of suffering from high blood pressure.
