Association between vegetables consumption and the risk of age-related cataract: a meta-analysis.
Habitual consumption of vegetables may help to keep cataracts at bay.
The objective of this study was to conduct a meta-analysis that summarized evidence from eligible studies regarding the association between the intake of vegetables and the probability of having cataracts. A total of 9 studies involving 112,447 participants and 6,464 cases of cataracts were considered for this meta-analysis.
Researchers found out that the risk of cataracts decreased with increase in the frequency of consumption of vegetables. This study provides evidence that high vegetable diets may help to fend off cataracts.
