A Case-Control Study on the Dietary Intake of Mushrooms and Breast Cancer Risk Among Korean Women
Increased intake of mushrooms may decrease the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
This research work assessed the risk of breast cancer present in high consumers of mushroom. Researchers tracked the frequency of consumption of mushroom in a study population comprising of 362 patients with breast cancer and 362 Korean women free from the disease.
The team of investigators observed that postmenopausal women who ate the most amounts of mushrooms had the lowest breast cancer risk. This study lends credence to the notion that high mushroom diet may be protectively associated with breast cancer occurrence in postmenopausal women.
