Legume intake and reduced colorectal adenoma risk in African-Americans
Fondness for legumes may help ward off colorectal polyps in African-Americans.
This research work studied the correlation between legume consumption and the prevalence of colorectal adenomas in African-Americans. Dietary and health records of 186 African-Americans with an average age of 58 years were assessed for this study.
Researchers observed that high consumers of legumes had brighter chances of preventing colorectal adenomas. This evidence from this study indicate that habitual intake of legumes may help halt the formation of polyps in the colon and rectum in African-Americans.
