Cardiovascular Disease Risk in Individuals Following Plant-Based Dietary Patterns Compared to Regular Meat-Eaters
Opting for a vegan diet may help curb the development of cardiovascular disease.
This study compared the cardiovascular disease risk profile among followers of plant-based and meaty diets. Researchers examined the health data and eating habits of 240 middle-aged men and women over a 10-year period.
Researchers observed that vegans had the lowest likelihood of having cardiovascular disease among the study populations, which included lacto-ovo vegetarians, pesco-vegetarians, semi-vegetarians or regular meat-eaters. This study pointed out the advantage of a vegan diet in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.
