Associations between Plant-Based Dietary Patterns and Sensory Impairments among Chinese Older Adults: Based on the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey
Strict adherence to a healthy plant-based diet may help slash an elderly individual's risk of experiencing sensory impairment.
This study aimed to understand the influence healthy plant foods exert on sensory functions in older adults. Researchers utilized data obtained from more than 14,000 elderly men and women who took part in the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey.
Researchers noticed that participants following healthy plant-based diets were less likely to suffer from impairment in sensory functions, such as vision and hearing. This study supports the intake of healthful plant foods as a dietary measure to combat and prevent sensory impairment in elderly men and women.
