Total meat (flesh) supply may be a significant risk factor for cardiovascular diseases worldwide

Habitual intake of meat may result in an increased incidence of cardiovascular disease worldwide.

This research work looked at how the frequency of meat ingestion influences the global burden of cardiovascular disease. Researchers charted meat consumption against cardiovascular disease prevalence in 217 countries. 

Researchers noticed that countries at the top of the meat intake ladder had high burden of cardiovascular disease. The findings of this study showed that diets that promote the consumption of meat may be a major contributing factor to the rising rates of cardiovascular disease worldwide.
