Association Between Composite Dietary Antioxidant Index and Cognitive Function Among Aging Americans from NHANES 2011-2014

Sticking to a high antioxidant diet may help enhance cognitive function and reduce the risk of cognitive decline in older men and women.

This research work was carried out to ascertain the effect of consuming antioxidant-rich foods on cognitive function in elderly men and women. Researchers studied 2,456 Americans aged 60 years and above with regards to their food preferences and mental health. 

Researchers pointed out that higher dietary intake of antioxidants improved cognitive function and lower risk of cognitive impairment. This study identifies high ingestion of antioxidant-containing foods as one of the dietary weapons that can be deployed to fight off cognitive decline in older men and women.
