High dietary ingestion of fruits and vegetables may help enhance cognitive function and decrease the rate of occurrence of cognitive impairment in elderly men and women.

This study examined if generous consumption of fruits and vegetables is tied to lower risk of cognitive impairment in older adults. Up to 728 elderly men and women from China enrolled for this study and their eating habits and cognitive performance were assessed with validated questionnaires.
