Is Ultra-Processed Food Intake Associated with a Higher Risk of Glaucoma? A Prospective Cohort Study including 19,255 Participants from the SUN Project
Lovers of ultra-processed foods are prone to having glaucoma.
This study examined preference for ultra-processed foods in relation to the development of glaucoma. Up to 19,225 Spanish men and women enrolled for this study and reported their frequency of consumption of ultra-processed foods and glaucoma diagnosis status via validated questionnaires.
Researchers discovered that generous consumers of ultra-processed foods had high propensity to be diagnosed with glaucoma. This 2024 study documented that likeness for ultra-processed foods may promote the development of glaucoma.
