Sedentary behavior and incident cancer: a meta-analysis of prospective studies
Being physically inactive may trigger the development of some types of cancer, including breast, endometrial, colorectal, and lung cancers.
This meta-analysis studied the impact of sedentary lifestyle on the incidence of cancer. Data from 18,553 cancer patients and 857,581 persons without cancer who participated in 17 studies were examined for this meta-analysis.
Researchers observed that participants who adopted a sedentary lifestyle had a high tendency to develop breast, endometrial, colorectal, and lung cancers. Evidence from this study showed that imbibing sedentary behaviors may edge an individual closer to acquiring certain forms of cancer, including lung, breast, endometrial, and colorectal cancer.
