Association and mechanism of garlic consumption with gastrointestinal cancer risk: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Frequent consumption of garlic may facilitate the prevention of gastrointestinal cancer.

This study analyzed dietary intake of garlic and its effect on the likelihood of developing gastrointestinal cancer. Researchers collated data and evidence obtained from eligible studies.

Researchers found out the odds of staying free from cancers affecting the gastrointestinal tract, such as colorectal and gastric (stomach) cancer, were tilted in favor of participants at the upper end of the garlic consumption ladder. The data from this study indicate that regular ingestion of garlic may help curb the occurrence of cancer in the gastrointestinal system.
