The association between meat intake and the risk of coronary heart disease in Korean men using the Framingham risk score: A prospective cohort study

Men on high red meat diet may have heightened risk of coronary heart disease (CHD).

The purpose of this study was to determine the role adherence to a meaty diet plays in the development of coronary heart disease (CHD) in men. Dietary and health records obtained from over 13,000 Korean men were utilized for this study.

Researchers identified a 55% surge in the 10-year risk of coronary heart disease in participants at the zenith of the consumption ladder of red meat. Evidence from this study demonstrated that consistent ingestion of a meaty diet may give rise to coronary heart disease in men.
