Association of dietary vitamin C intake with depression in adults: A cross-sectional study of NHANES from 2005 to 2020

Individuals who enjoy consuming foods packed with vitamin C are less prone to suffer from depression.

This study ascertained the connection between frequent consumption of foods rich in vitamin C and the presence of symptoms of depression in adults. Researchers surveyed the diets and mental health of 38,157 men and women. During the course of the study, a total of 3,448 participants reported experiencing symptoms of depression.

Researchers noticed a favorable association between high ingestion of vitamin C-containing foods and the absence of depressive symptoms. This study demonstrated that sticking to a diet loaded with foods high in vitamin C may help ward off depression in men and women.
