Quantitative association of tobacco smoking with the risk of nasopharyngeal carcinoma: a comprehensive meta-analysis of studies conducted between 1979 and 2011

Tobacco smoking may foster the development of nasopharyngeal cancer.

This study investigated the link between tobacco smoking and the subsequent development of nasopharyngeal cancer using a meta-analytic approach. Researchers performed an in-depth analysis on data drawn from 32 studies published between 1979 and 2011.

Researchers observed that smokers exhibited a 60% increase in nasopharyngeal cancer risk compared to their counterparts who had never touched a stick of cigarette . This meta-analysis documented that tobacco smokers are liable to suffer from nasopharyngeal cancer.
