Meat consumption and risk of ischemic heart disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Sticking to a high red meat diet may raise an individual's odds of having ischemic heart disease (IHD).
This study conducted a meta-analysis on data drawn out from 13 studies that looked at the effect of high dietary ingestion of red meat on the risk of developing ischemic heart disease (IHD). Nearly 1.5 million men and women participated in these studies.
The research team observed that the more the amount of processed and unprocessed red meat consumed, the greater the chances of being diagnosed with ischemic heart disease. This meta-analysis adds to the evidence that a high red meat diet may be detrimental to heart health.
