Alcohol consumption and risk of common cancers: evidence from a cohort of adults from the UK
Passionate consumers of alcohol may be at risk of developing different types of cancer, including breast, colorectal, and lung cancer.
Does alcohol intake promote the development of cancer? This study was conducted to provide answer to this question. Data on the alcohol drinking habits and cancer incidence of 8,670 UK men and women were obtained from dairy records and cancer registries.
Researchers identified an unfavorable relationship between increasing consumption of alcohol and the occurrence of different types of cancer, including breast, colorectal, and lung cancer. The data from this study suggest that habitual drinking of alcohol may facilitate the development of cancer.
