Red and processed meat consumption and risk of pancreatic cancer: meta-analysis of prospective studies.
High dietary intake of red and processed meats may increase pancreatic cancer risk.
This study evaluated the association between the consumption of red and processed meats and the odds of developing pancreatic cancer. Researchers conducted a meticulous meta-analysis on data obtained from eleven prospective studies that examined 6,643 cases of pancreatic cancer.
Researchers found out that consistent consumption of processed meats increased the likelihood of developing pancreatic cancer in both men and women. High dietary ingestion of red meat was found to elevate pancreatic cancer risk in men but not in women in this study. The results of this study show that individuals on high-meat diets may have a high disposition to developing pancreatic cancer.
