Processed meat and the risk of selected digestive tract and laryngeal neoplasms in Switzerland.

High consumers of processed meats may have a high probability of developing laryngeal and digestive tract cancers, such as oral, pharyngeal, laryngeal, esophageal, and colorectal cancer.

​This study aimed to determine the role high dietary ingestion of processed meats play in the development of laryngeal and some digestive tract cancers, including oral, pharyngeal, esophageal, and colorectal cancers. Researchers from Switzerland took a detailed look at the nutritional of data of patients diagnosed with oral, pharyngeal, laryngeal, esophageal, or colorectal cancer.

The team of investigators noted that persons with high intake of processed meats were more likely to come down with oral, pharyngeal, laryngeal, esophageal, or colorectal cancer than individuals who avoided these types of animal foods. The findings of this study reveal that individuals can increase their risk of developing cancer of the larynx and digestive tract by following a dietary pattern that encourage the consumption of processed meats.
