Consumption of processed food and risk of nasopharyngeal carcinoma: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Sticking to a high processed food diet may favor the development of nasopharyngeal cancer.
The purpose of this study was to determine whether consistent consumption of processed foods can increase the risk of nasopharyngeal cancer. Researchers performed a meticulous meta-analysis on data obtained from 29 studies involving more than 14,000 patients with nasopharyngeal cancer and nearly 18,000 individuals without the disease.
Researchers discovered that frequent intake of processed foods correlated with rising risk of nasopharyngeal cancer. The data from this study support a harmful relationship between regular ingestion of processed foods and elevated nasopharyngeal cancer odds.
